Azamara Cruises to Sail First Full Asia Season in 2028

Azamara Cruises has announced its 2028 spring, summer and fall sailings.

According to a press release, this will be the cruise line’s first full season in Asia.

With 33 sailings aboard the Azamara Pursuit, the Asia program introduces nine Combination Cruises, allowing guests to explore multiple countries including Japan, South Korea and China within a single extended journey.

“We are constantly refining our itineraries to deliver thoughtfully curated experiences for our guests,” said Michael Pawlus, head of itinerary planning at Azamara Cruises.

“Our country-intensive sailings in regions like Greece and Italy remain a core part of what we offer, and with the addition of Asia-focused itineraries in 2028, we’re expanding the range and depth of destinations guests can experience across our deployment.”

The company’s focus on immersive destination experiences means that itineraries will feature 87% of its deployment spent in port, with more than 360 late nights and overnight stays.

Apart from Asia, Europe will remain a cornerstone of the 2028 season, featuring 85 cruises, including 10 Grand Voyages and 48 country-intensive itineraries (including Combination Cruises).

More immersive exploration awaits guests in Mediterranean destinations like Greece, Italy and Croatia.

The 2028 season will also entail visits to 12 maiden ports across Europe and Asia, including Caen in France, Sokcho in South Korea, Tokushima and Miyazaki (Aburatsu) in Japan, Delphi (Itea) in Greece, Porto Empedocle in Sicily and Liepāja in Latvia.

The river program will see extended cruising along routes such as the Guadalquivir River into Seville, the Garonne into Bordeaux, the Seine into Rouen, the Yangtze River into Shanghai and the Mekong Delta to Ho Chi Minh City.

Guests will also be able to pick a Specialty Cruise designed around global events and cultural moments.

Examples include Grand Prix itineraries and the British Open sailing centered around The 156th Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, with the Azamara Journey calling in Liverpool.
